26 June 2009 Art and Craft
"The line of demarcation between art and craft is very thin. At times the two seem to encroach upon each other, blurring the line into spaced dots. Puppetry is art which is crafted. And this crafted art, in the hands of Anupam becomes the liet motif of his recnt creations. As an admirer of his paintings, I can simply guess as to what has actually led him to make such paintings. But the 'whys' of an artist are as difficult to answer as the metaphysical query as to why did God if there had been any create this artist might have found and empathetic creativity and a shared conscience. Resultantly, it is art beyond craft, or art creating itself upon art. This beside, it presents a peep into ethnic ethos of Rajasthani Culture. It smells, on empirical level, of the soil of the land of deserts. It is a leaf from the book of mobs. It is past which is made, if not the momentary present, at least the recent one; a 'was', that has been dragged into a 'have been'. And the line of demarcation between a 'have been' and an 'is' is also very thin. At times the two seem to encroach upon each other, blurring time into spaced dots."

 9th January 2010 Eternal Bliss
"Dr. Anupam Bhatngar is emerging on the national horizon through al INDIA FINE Arts And Crafts Society . His compositions in oils exhibited in the gallery of IFACS January 2010 reflect the compositional arrangement taught to the fine arts students at university level . In these compositions forms are very formal and colors usually bright . A clear impact of Rajasthan environment and themes are reflecting on these paintings .The puppet movements and Rajasthani attaire of male and female forms leave strong impact like folk art .The simple division of space and color harmonious reminds the viewer the decorative treatment of forms the hand and feet gestures make the figure dance in a folk way. To mention one such treatment is on the canvas Maharo Rajasthan where the peacock form in blue and other colors of the same family give impression of a dancing peacock , when the brown and red colors representing a dancing lady in the same dancing sprit present excellent harmony with the yellow sand dunes and typical Rajasthan architecturel forms in the back ground . Overall the work reflects the folk art and culture of Rajasthan.

 3rd January 2010 Indian Folk
"Folk art has always facinated me and the way Dr. Anupam Bhatnagar has potrayed it,is better still.Crafts and art are seen in holy matrimony in this series. The raw colours and their flat application and thus the simplicity is touching."
